7.2 miles southwest of Rexburg
Lorenzo Bridge
- River woods, heavy cover
- Spring through fall
- Free to play
Seven miles out of town and you're in cottonwood bottoms on the South Fork. This is the old Lorenzo boat launch, and it's the closest place to Rexburg where you can play in real cover.
The river bounds one side and a dry channel bounds the other. That gives you a natural field with edges nobody has to argue about. A fence with walk-through gates closes off one end.
How it plays
Most of the ground is thick brush and downed cottonwood. Somebody has stacked dead logs into a couple of big stick bunkers near the middle, and those tend to become the thing both teams fight over.
The dry creek bed is the sneaky route. It runs low through the brush, and a patient player can crawl a long way down it without being seen. Back from the river there are primitive trails and a small pond most people walk right past.
Some of the ground stays soft and marshy. Wear boots you don't care about.

Getting there
Interchange work at Thornton closed the west-side parking. Park on the east side across the railroad tracks and carry your gear in on the trail that runs under the highway bridge. It's about a hundred yards farther than the old lot. A wagon or a gear bag with a shoulder strap makes the trip easier.
The boat launch itself has moved downstream, so don't go looking for the ramp.

When to go
Spring through fall. Fall is the best of it. The cottonwoods turn, the ground firms up, and the walk in is pretty enough that nobody complains about it.
Leave it like you found it
Pack out your trash, pods and CO2 cartridges included. Don't shoot signs, fences or anything else that's built here, and don't drag in junk for cover. Watch what's behind your target and leave the wildlife alone. Hikers use the river trails here too, so stay on them and give people room.
