Lava Hill
- Hill, lava ridges, sagebrush
- Spring through fall
- Free to play
Lava Hill is the attack-and-defend field. Two teams start at opposite ends of a collapsed lava tube, each able to see the other, and the hill in between is the prize.
It's a couple of miles past Rattle Rock in the same lava country, so you can play both in one day if your group has the legs for it.
How it plays
The climb is where the game happens. Rock ridges and small canyons cut across the slope, and sagebrush fills in between. Players have built a few stacked-rock walls along the way. You can move up the hill a piece of cover at a time if you're patient.
All that climbing wears people out faster than flat ground. Plan on shorter games, more water and more breaks than you'd think.
Before you play
Snakes are the main hazard. Look before you reach into rock and brush, and walk the field first.

Getting there
It's right off the highway with a marked parking area. The lot is close enough to use as a base camp and far enough back to stay out of the line of fire.

Leave it like you found it
Pack out your trash, pods and CO2 cartridges included. Don't shoot signs, fences or anything else that's built here, and don't drag in junk for cover. Watch what's behind your target and leave the wildlife alone.
